Model Comparison - Fit PC2 and 2i

If you're struggling to decide which Fit PC model is right for your application, this page should help you understand the differences between the two models and decide which is best for your application.
Similarities
Before we get to the differences between the two models, it may help to outline the features that both models have in common, and then highlight the areas where they differ.
Fit PC2 and 2i are based on exactly the same basic motherboard and chipset, so both give the
same high levels of PC performance and the majority of their specifications are exactly the same. The video output from both is the same, they have the same size bay for their storage drive (2.5" SATA) and they have exactly the same dimensions. They are also both built with the same Industrial manufacturing processes and high-grade components, so are both very rugged and reliable.
The Differences
Where they differ is in the types of connections they have, with the new Fit PC2i model including a number of extra Industrial- and Networking-related features. A full comparison list of features is included below to show all of the differences, but the main extra features in Fit PC2i are:
RS-232 Serial Port (Full UART)
Dual Gigabit Ethernet (compared to 1 GbE for Fit PC2)
Wake-on-LAN function
Securing screw for power-input cable
Price - Fit PC 2i prices are about 10% higher than the equivalent Fit PC2.
These extra features make Fit PC2i better designed for a number of Industrial applications that require a built-in Serial port or the ability to Wake-on-LAN, and for certain Networking applications that require a second (completely separate) Ethernet connection. The ability to secure the power-input could also sway your requirements toward Fit PC2i.
