Which Fit PC2 Configuration should I Choose?
Here is a rough guide to choosing the correct Fit PC2 model, version and operating system, depending on which features are most important to you:
HD Playback - Both Windows XP and Windows 7 provide excellent High Definition media playback performance, with windows 7 having no limitations on HD video file type. Under XP, full HD performance is not available for WMV HD (windows media HD files), though the majority of HD videos are not recorded using that file type.
[Important note: The Codecs required for HD-playback on XP are supplied for free with the XP model of Fit PC2, but if you load your own Windows XP you will have to purchase the Codecs separately (approximately £25).]
Dont need the Operating System? If you DO want the pre-installed 160GB Hard Drive or 8GB SSD drive, but have your own licenses for the O/S then the Linux model (Mint 9) includes the HDD and a Free Linux Operating System, which you can easily image over.
Need a fully industrial Storage Drive? - If you require a fully industrial PC for robust applications that require wide temperature range and no moving parts, then you will want a model with Solid State Drive (SSD) instead of the 160GB HDD. We have a model with pre-installed 8GB SSD, or if you require a larger drive we have 16GB industrial SSD (not pre-installed) available, or you can purchase any 2.5" SATA SSD and fit it into the Fit PC yourself.
If you want to use a large/smaller capacity drive, or want to use a different SSD (Solid State Drive) to the 8GB pSSD we can offer pre-installed, then you should go for the Diskless model.
Installing/replacing the drive is very easy (Click here for a 3-step guide), and Fit PC2 will take any 2.5" drive, HDD or SSD, with SATA connection (i.e. a standard laptop drive).
Very Light Processor Use?
If you are only running fairly low-requirement programmes, and do not think you will need the full 1.6GHz processor then take a look at Fit PC2 Lite, the barebones model with 1.1GHz processor, priced at £229 + VAT.
